The #bornagain channel is a place where true Christian believers can come together for fellowship. While we willingly welcome those whose beliefs are different, we make no apologies for standing on our faith.

This chatroom can be found at DALnet as #bornagain. We would be glad to have you join us.

Why?

You might ask "There already exist several Christian IRC channels. Why do we need another one?" That's a good question. There are indeed several Christian channels out there already, and it is good to spend time in there, as that is what most people will see first. However, those channels are often run by those who support the ecumenical movement, including many Catholics. That means that those of us who stand up for the faith are often marginalised and outright banned as being intolerant of other religions. So, we'll let them have their channels, and we can have ours where we can stand true to the Word of God!

Rules

1. Be considerate and respectful.
2. No using the Lord's name in vain.
3. No profanity or obscene content.
4. Heresy may be discussed with mods, or at times, even debated. However, heresy is never to be taught or supported in this channel. If you have any questions, please ask an op (they have the @ before their name).
5. We are Christians. While we do not mind you asking questions, or even debating the existence of God, we will not tolerate blasphemy or rude statements about God.
6. No flooding. If you must post large amounts of text, please use a pastebin, like Pastebin.com.
7. Ops have final say in any decisions, however we'll try to be fair. If you feel like their judgment is in question, you may send a private message to dking.

Statement of Faith

• We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and is the sole source of doctrine. We believe that it is correct and literally accurate in all points.
• We believe that there is only one God, the God of the Bible, who is eternally distinct in three parts as the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
• We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and God the Son. He was literally born of a virgin, lived the only sinless life, willingly died on a cross, and literally rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.
• We believe in a literal Heaven and Hell. We believe in the eternal torment of the damned, that is those who do not in this life accept Christ as Lord and Saviour.
• We believe in salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone. We do not believe that one must or even could work to gain or maintain salvation. This also means that we do not believe in baptismal regeneration, or losing of salvation.
• We believe in the priesthood of the believer, and that it is the personal duty of every believer to spread the Gospel to the world and to live a life that is pleasing to God. We also believe that means standing against false doctrines and false teachers.

Heresy

Heresy is false teachings that divide the body of Christ and lead sinners away from salvation. Used here, it is specifically referring to teachings that distort the fundamentals of salvation. Some examples of heresy follow.

• Teaching that there is some other way of salvation apart from Jesus.
• Any sort of theology requiring works for salvation including performing of sacraments, keeping of laws, penances, etc.
• Teachings against the Biblical Jesus, such as claiming he was just a prophet, that he did not die or resurrect literally, etc.
• Baptismal regeneration
• Teaching that Hell is not a real place, or that salvation may be somehow attained after death.
• Teaching that the Bible is allegorical rather than literal.
